The Root Causes Behind IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)
IBS or Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a condition that affects up to 20% of Americans. It is characterized by chronic abdominal pain (with or without gas and bloating) and alterations in bowel movements (loose stools, constipation or mixed).
The underlying causes are many and figuring out the unique mix for each person is a diagnostic art form.
The most common causes for IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) for many people are:
🟢Certain pharmaceutical medications
🟢Food intolerances, allergies or sensitivities
🟢Small intestinal overgrowth of bacteria or yeast
🟢Gut dysbiosis-infiltration of pathogenic bacteria, yeast or parasites
🟢Hpylori-a unique potential bacterial trigger
Some less common but still unique causes include*:
🟠Mold and mycotoxin exposure
🟠Lyme and co-infections
(*Almost always include systemic symptoms as well: fatigue, brain fog, joint pain, muscle pain, nervous system dysfunction, etc).
